I often tell my clients that even coaches have coaches. As a coach I don’t presume to have it all figured out. There are areas of my life that I am working on and will continue to work on because they are important to me. I believe in coaching as well as my continued personal and professional development. For that reason, I have a number of coaches each coaching me on a different or similar topics. Regardless of the topic my core belief systems and values come into play repeatedly .
My most important value is honesty, followed by health, gratitude, growth, kindness, freedom, bravery and joy. Regardless of your values and the order you place them; no one value is better than another. So I encourage you to take ownership of your values and refer back to them regularly and to enquire as to whether your thoughts are in line.
There is my stress and anxiety coach, that is how she positions herself. Her name is Sandy and she is in the States. I met Sandy at a time when I was feeling frustrated because there seemed to be not enough flow in my life, both professionally and personally. Sandy assisted me to identify my core values and often brought me back to them thus encouraging me to live true to who I am in different situations. I am grateful to be experiencing more flow and I feel better equipped to notice and manage my frustration.
My kindred spirit Elise of My Coach Says. She’s in the UK and I know if we lived in the same city, either London or Cape Town, we would have loads of fun together, possibly involving wine. On a serious note. Elise and I do weekly reciprocal peer coaching. Elise is straight forward like me (I suspect that’s the reason we click). I am immensely grateful for Elise’s insight and encouragement as I navigate some tricky areas of my personal life and a belief system that no longer serves me.
Kat from Love Molecules is a love coach and she is also in the UK. Kat has helped me change my belief system about men and relationships. She brought my awareness to the concept of availability; a man’s and my own. Flora in Singapore is coaching me on another personal topic. My home. Flora has brought my awareness to the bigger picture. Creating a home is about creating a feeling not just a shopping list of new furniture.
Naturally I have a network of coaches locally that are available to me as resources and to refer out if a prospect and I are not quite the right fit. Everyone can benefit from coaching; everyone requires a different type of coach and style of coaching.
