A theme that has been coming up for me a lot lately is SURRENDER. It comes up almost on a daily basis recently which prompts me to really explore what it means and how I can apply it to better my life at the moment.
Some times we become accustomed to putting our energy into pushing so hard and expecting the desired result to come because it is what we have decided we want so incredibly badly and it simply must happen. We make a decision, become so focused on that outcome and how we believe things should be and then find ourselves feeling disappointed. Why do we do this? To our own detriment I might add. Because we are impatient. Because we have an idea of the way the world should be. Because someone else set us up to expect certain things.
Now, what would happen if we consciously decided to surrender? Would things not happen as and when and how they are supposed to? I am not referring to giving up completely I am referring to allowing it to come instead. What would happen if we stopped pushing so hard and instead gave ourselves and the matter at hand time to breathe and unfold?
I know I am personally dealing with matters that are requiring me to surrender and it is beautiful to watch what started to happen once I made that decision. Things have begun to flow more easily. I am more trusting of myself and the process. It is not so highly charged. I am no longer triggered by my expectation not being met. I am happier, I am healthier and I feel a level of freedom and confidence that I am thoroughly enjoying. I find myself responding differently with more patience and increased kindness towards myself and others. Ultimately I have less attachment to the outcome now.
Consider where in your life it would be most helpful to practice surrender. To stop resisting and just begin to let go.
