Thank You

Home and Gratitude

It is the afternoon of 31 December 2020.  The year that was not for many.  I feel filled with gratitude to have made it to the end of this year.  It was increasingly challenging at times and has ended beautifully in a family holiday on a farm in the Cape winelands.  I feel incredibly blessed

Reflection on 2020

I was confronted with an important question from a friend this week.  She asked, “What word describes your year?”.  I responded quickly with, “Divisive”.  Not that I felt prepared for the question nor took too much time to think about it in the moment; it felt like the right answer.  This year has been divisive

disappointment

Managing Disappointment

I recently experienced a day which I described as “peppered with disappointment”.  I turned to friends who listened and empathised with me and my disappointment.  It got me thinking about this concept which prompted me to reflect on some of the themes coming up in client sessions at the moment and it’s also disappointment.  It

What is Self-Care?

Self-care is so much more than bubble baths and relaxing or taking “me-time”.  Most of my clients when discussing self-care immediately jump to the very obvious physiological areas of their lives which are not getting the necessary attention i.e. rest, nutrition and exercise.  Yes, these three things are super important since without them we simply

Love and Be Present

At the start of every year I choose two words to encapsulate how I want my year ahead to be.  I do feel like I am leaving it a bit late this year with only three days to go before we celebrate NYE!  Nonetheless I have my words ready and I am preparing to set

Twenty MineTeen

It feels like just the other day that I wrote this blog article about 2018 and chose my words for 2019 or Twenty MineTeen as some people are calling it.  According to Urban Dictionary: 2019: It’s the year of putting yourself first, claiming what’s yours and being completely, utterly unapologetic about it.  I am reflecting

social media emotional health

Social Media and Emotional Health

I often hear myself say that social media is everyone’s highlights package or show reel.  And it is true!  People can portray their lives exactly how they want them to appear to others on social media and everyone will believe them. Some people put in some serious effort when doing this… styled plates of food,
